Cat Ba Island is situated a mere 50 km east of Hai Phong city in the north of Vietnam. Cat Ba Island is part of a chain of 366 islands that lie within the larger area of Halong Bay. At over 200km2, Cat Ba is the largest island in Halong Bay. The island is easily accessible and matches neighbouring Halong Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay for stunning natural beauty. It also offers visitors the added options of relaxation, adventure and cultural exchange. In April 2005, Cat Ba was officially recognized as Cat Ba Archipelago Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.



Cat Ba is known for its rugged limestone mountains, hot and cold springs, moist tropical forests, mangrove forest , coral reefs as well as its deserted beaches, and casual island lifestyle. Cat Ba is now much sought after by both domestic and international visitors as a ready alternative to the city madness and bus tour boredom.

Monkey island is a private island located 2 miles from Cat Ba town. The beach here is one of the most beautiful beach in Cat Ba Island. The sea water is so clean and emeraud, the climate here is wonderful and nature are so beautiful. The island apparently has monkeys, but only a few around the accomodation were in evidence. Be aware that these animals are used to getting their food from either the guests or the bins, and therefore are not afraid of humans, so they might cause a problem.

Cat Ba National Park is situated in Cat Ba Island and on several smaller islands nearby. The park currently comprises 98km2 of total land area, 54km2 of inshore waters. The National Park was Vietnam’s first national park to included both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. It is recognized nationally and internationally for its importance in biodiversity conservation, as it contains many different types of ecosystem and habitat. The Park has a great variety of plant and animal species.

Lan Ha Bay is located in the Southeast of Cat Ba Island, looking out of Van sea mouth, connecting with Ha Long Bay. Its area is 7000ha, of which 5400ha are managed by Cat Ba National Park. The limestone mountain density is here crowded, neglected and devised sea face into little bays, gulfs of which many little bays, gulfs, and caves are still not discovered yet. Lan Ha Bay consist of 139 small and clean sand banks of which lots of them lying in the middle of 2 mountains are sloping, long and quiet without rough waves, they are actually beautiful bathing beaches.

Lan Ha Bay is a lovely place for kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and rock climbing.

Tour from Hanoi to Cat Ba

Day 1: Hanoi – Halong (L, D)
- Depart for Halong in 3 hours and a half (have a short break of 30 minutes in Hai Duong province).
- Arrive Halong bay, get on the Junk, have lunch in the restaurant on Junk.
- Cruise on the bay, visit Sung Sot cave, do kayaking through Luon cave then swim in the bay.
- Have dinner and stay overnight on deluxe Junk.

Day 2: Cat Ba national park – MonkeyIsland Resort (B, L, D)
- Have buffet breakfast, enjoy a sunrise cruise in the breathtaking scenery of Halong.

- Cruise to Gia Luan Ferry, go to Cat ba National Park by bus.

- Travel to Beo Harbour by bus and get on boat for Monkey Island, have lunch in restaurant of Monkey Island Resort,  kayak and swim, play football, volley ball...

Day3: Monkey Island – Kayaking Lan Ha bay (B, L, D)
- Have breakfast, enjoy a sunrise cruise in the breathtaking scenery of Monkey Island beach.
- Travel to Lan Ha bay by boat, visit Van Gia floating village, floating school for children... then boat take you to the most beautiful area of Lan Ha bay, do kayaking at “ bright cave & dark cave” where you find the spectacular beauty of the numerous islands and the Lan Ha bay.
- Have lunch with sea food on boat.
- Go back to Monkey Island Resort, then you are free to swim at MonkeyIsland beach, do kayaking…
- Have dinner in the Monkey restaurant, then free evening.

- Sleep in Monkey Island Resort or in hotel in Cat Ba town.

Day 4: Cat Ba – Halong – Hanoi ( B, L)
- Check out the room, the boat will transfer you to Cat ba town, and you have 30 minutes to discover the small town of Catba island.

- Go to Gia Luan pier by bus and get on boat back to HalongBay in another way - through amazing islets amdmire dramatic natural scenery, take photos of  Fighting Cock Islet, Cho Da Islet, Dinh Lu Huong Islet, FishingVillage…
- Arrive Ha Long wharf and have lunch.
- Bus back to Hanoi.
- Arrive Hanoi. End services.
